Hello out there world!
It’s Rachel checking in to chat about our elopement giveaway winners! For those of you that are just tuning in, we partnered with a handful of vendors to give an elopement away to a Healthcare Hero. Danielle and Geoff were chosen because Danni is a nurse that instead of being with her soon-to-be husband on their wedding night, decided to don her scrubs and hang up her wedding dress to fight the virus.
Like a lot of romances in 2020, their romance started on an app. Danni jokes that is was her “last attempt” at dating. Their conversation flowed easily and felt too good to be true but when Danielle invited Geoff over on a whim, their matching Chinese Food orders confirmed that they were a match. This was a spontaneous invite what resulted in them realizing they felt they had known each other forever.
When Geoff got home that night he texted Danielle right away to say goodnight. That day was the last day that Danni would ever go without a goodnight text or a ‘good morning beautiful’ call. Can I say swoon?! A few months later, on Fourth of July weekend, they went to meet Danielle’s parents and he watched her dance on the patio, falling in love with her in that moment. That night was the first time Geoff confessed that he was in love with her.
What Geoff didn’t know at the time was that Danielle would whisper “I love you” all the time before bed when they had sleepovers and just wanted to make sure he was ready instead of rushing him. Let’s talk about these two and how thoughtful they are!
First of all, when deciding if they should cancel or postpone, they thought of the impact that Danielle would be able to make to help others. The unknown factor of everything didn’t help the stress levels of a couple planning a wedding, as I’m sure some of you reading this can relate. Danielle says they felt relief as soon as they cancelled because Geoff is, get ready for more adorable, her “personal anti-anxiety pill” when things get overwhelming. When she realized that the virus was getting bad and they needed her to work on their wedding night, she asked Geoff what he thought. In true Geoff fashion, compassionate and caring, he said “of course not we are in this together. You go and do what you were born to do and be the best damn nurse I know!”
Danni says ” A cancelled wedding never felt bad to me because we had each other and our day would come.”
Their day did come and I was glad I witnessed it. I walked into Danielle’s hotel room at the Madison Beach Hotel and immediately felt her joy. Her smile lit up the room and you saw how happy she was that their day was here! She got to have her hair done and friends helped with the rest. She got to wear her beautiful dress and walk down the aisle to finally start her new chapter with Geoff.
She said what made the day even better was knowing the kindness of the vendors brought this day together. They were humbled to know that vendors were thinking of couples at this time where a couple might need to cancel due to Covid. When I met Geoff, I saw the thoughtfulness in his eyes. The most important thing to him was making sure everything was going well for Danielle.
When Danielle finally walked down the aisle to Geoff love filled both their eyes. They promised to love each other.. more than snacks and forever be good team mates.
While they danced on the shoreline taking pictures, you saw the love, happiness, and beauty in true love. These two really know how to show you that the marriage is the most important part of a wedding.
They are now hanging out happily married in their forever home on Johnny Appleseed Drive.
XOXO,
Rach
