Meet the blogging team!

LAUREN + RACHEL

With so many talented vendors out there, we know how hard it can be to narrow it down and find the right fit for your big day. Let’s be honest, one of the most important things to consider is the music! Whether you go with a band or DJ, you want to hire someone who can really get everyone up and dancing. Today, we’re excited to interview one of our favorite bands who always does just that: the Metropolitan Players! We’ve worked with Erin and Drew at countless weddings and hope you enjoy getting to know them.

  1. Why did you get in this business?

My husband, Drew and I founded the Metropolitan Players when we couldn’t find the perfect band for our own wedding. We both had a passion for music, had gone to school for business, and absolutely loved everything a wedding represents. We were also encouraged by the opportunity to provide young, professional musicians with meaningful work in their field.

We just absolutely love being part of the celebration that brings two families together, and with every new couple, the Met Player family grows and new musical memories are made!

  1. What do you love most about this industry?

We love this industry because we have the immense privilege of sharing in the celebration of joining two people and their families. We get to be part of one of the biggest days of their lives – and that’s not something you can say for every industry! Every wedding is truly unique, so there’s always something new and exciting happening.

  1. What is your ideal client?

Our clients are positive, fun, totally in love, and excited to customize their entire wedding experience. They truly embrace becoming a member of the Met Player Family, and are willing to put their trust in their vendors to give them the absolute best experience!

  1. What venues do you like to work at?

We’re not super picky – we love all kinds of venues! But we especially love working with venues that have a wonderful and kind team of people! A couple of faves we’ve worked at with Lisa are Saltwater Farms Vineyard, and Le Chateau. 🙂

  1. Why do you feel people should hire you?

The Metropolitan Players are one of the few bands in the industry that exclusively plays weddings. While many other bands stretch their resources, personnel, and availability thin by playing corporate and other non-wedding gigs, we dedicate all our time, focus, and energy to facilitating a perfect day for our couples.

We hire only the most talented, trained musicians with extensive experience in musical performance, and as a result, unrivaled levels of musicianship, professionalism, and showmanship set The Metropolitan Players apart. We have cultivated a reputation within the wedding industry of keeping the dance floor packed all night long with our high-energy, unforgettable performances!

Last, but not least, we truly love and care about each and every couple we work with. I work directly with every single couple, and do everything I can to make sure their wedding goes off without a hitch. I’m their friend, family, confidant – whatever they need – and I’m there to keep them cool, calm, and collected as they plan their big day!

  1. What are your favorite places to travel?

Drew and I have a special place in our hearts for Upstate, NY. We both grew up in Upstate, NY, then met at college in Upstate, NY – so whenever we get the opportunity to travel, we take it.

  1. Favorite TV show and dessert?

Drew and I love the show “Modern Family.” Drew’s favorite dessert is brownie a-la-mode, and mine is soft vanilla ice cream in a cone with rainbow sprinkles!

  1. Why would you say having a planner is important?

Oh my goodness, so many reasons! As someone who planned their wedding without a planner – but has had the privilege of working with planners as a wedding vendor – I’d say it makes a huge difference.

First, when you’re planning your own wedding, the stress level can be extremely high. There’s just so much to keep track of, and without having another person on hand to make sure you’re taking care of all the tiny details (transportation for your guests, due dates for the final guest count, etc.), you’re bound to forget something! It really just puts your mind at ease knowing someone else is on top of it!

I also believe it makes a huge difference in allowing couples to just let go and enjoy their day. All questions from the venue, vendors, family, and guests will be fielded towards your planner. The day is busy enough – so you’re going to want to be as free as possible to simply enjoy the time together! This day only happens once!

And from a vendor perspective – having a planner really makes our job much easier, and a lot more fun. We know we have one point of contact that will keep us posted throughout the night regarding the catering timeline, changes in the order of events, updates as to when everyone is in the room for speeches, etc., so that we can put 100% of our focus into playing music, and ensuring the couple and their guests are having a great time.

  1. What do you like about working with Nightingale Events?

Lisa is amazing, and so is her entire team! Lisa is organized, communicative (both before the wedding, and the day of the wedding), positive, fun, totally on top of her game, and is just really darn good at what she does.

She’s also super thoughtful about when she recommends us. She really gets to know her clients to see if we would be the right fit before passing our name along. That’s HUGE!! Not only does that say amazing things about her as a planner from the client perspective because she wants to make sure her clients get exactly what they want – it’s also incredible for us. That’s because she’s sending us couples that truly fit with the style of The Met Players, our vibe, our personalities – and that fit within the right budgetary range the clients are looking for as well. It’s really a win-win situation – and she’s truly stellar at recommending great vendors across the board.
